City Point Neighborhood - New Haven, CT

 City Point was originally known as Oyster Point for the oyster processing plants located here in the 1800's and it still has the characteristic feel of a tiny fishing village.

Stately Victorian houses and fisherman's cottages lining the streets in this quiet corner of the city have been restored to their original beauty. Those houses and the luxury condominiums on the waterfront attract a mix of working families.

Many residents work at the nearby Yale-New Haven Hospital complex or the surrounding biomedical firms, and many others work in one of the manufacturers or professional offices that are on Long Wharf Drive just to the east.

The waterfront itself is home to marinas and a yacht club, and a pier attracts fisherman and people taking in the sweeping views of the harbor and Long Island Sound. Next to the marina, Sage American Bar and Grill offers some of the city's best water view dining dockside and on an upstairs deck.

Nearby schools include Betsy Ross Arts Magnet School and The Sound School, which is popular because of its curriculum based on studying the marine sciences.
